Mad Marty's 2001-2002 Base Training

Back to the grind. Trying to fit all the training, work, and school into 1 week is very challenging. This week I'm going to wind up coming into the office for 4 hrs on Sunday to make up for the slack. 3 night classes per is just too much, but I'm only doing it until March to get some of the basic classes out of the way. The training was centered around the Wed long run, last one before the marathon. Am also going to ride 70-80 on Sunday.

  • 400 kick
  • 6 x 50 on 40 w paddles
  • 3 x 100 on 1:20 w fins
  • 2 x 150 on 2:00 w paddles
  • 1 x 300 on 4:30 w fins
  • 2 x 150 on 2:00 w paddles
  • 3 x 100 on 1:20 w fins
  • 6 x 50 on 40 w paddles
  • 50 easy
  • 4 x 100 fly kick on back with fins
  • 150 swim down
TuesdayAM - weights, 15min jog
lunch - off
PM - 28m ride
  • 30min warm up
  • 4 x 5 min Z3, 5 min spin between
  • warm down
WednesdayAM - off
lunch - off
PM - 2 hr 26 min run (Z2 - legs felt strong but I didn't push it)
ThursdayAM - 3200 swim (LC)
  • 900 warm up
  • 16 x 50 drill-swim on :55, 1:05 (i used paddles)
  • 4 x (3 x 100 free pull on 1:20, 2 x 50 kick on 1:15)
  • 200 warm down

FridayAM - off
lunch - 1 hr spin with my lady
PM - off
Saturday AM - 2m warm up, 5k road race, 3m warm down
lunch - off
PM - ride - 14m warm up, 5-6 3minute hill repeats, 7m warm down
SundayAM - 70-80mile ride, half with fast group
lunch - off
PM - work like a dog for my money. send me some, rich people.

Total: Swim 2 hr, Run 4 hr, Bike 6.5 hr, lift 1.5 hr, total = 14 hrs
